Introduction
Humility… a modest or low view of one’s importance.
Submission… the action or fact of accepting or yielding to a superior force or the will or authority of another person.
Question: As a leader, how do you exercise your authority with humility? Is being assertive a show of pride?
Humility
- His model life of humility is ministered to others, put others first… Mark 10:45
- Meekness… Matt 11:29
Submissive Life of Jesus
God
- He suffered without complaining… Isaiah 53:7
- Came to do God’s will… John 6:3
Parents
- Submission to his parents. Luke 2:51-52
Authorities
- Everyone must submit to the authorities Rom 13:1
- Give to Cesar Mark 12:17
Pros
- It is a command to live a humble life… Philippians 2:3-4
- Secret to gaining God’s attention and grace… 2Ch 7:14
- God resists the proud … James 4: 6-8
- Exultation… Philippians 2:6-11
- Before honor is HUMILITY… Prov 15:33
Cons and Caution
- In honor of preferring one another (Age mate is not grace mate)… Romans 12:10
- Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine… 1Tim 5:17

Conclusion
- Jesus demonstrated humility and was submissive to God, his parents, and authorities.
- We are commanded to be humble and submissive as He did.
- Let’s reflect and make amends as necessary to be able to receive the blessings
