Benefit of Redemption Colossians 1:13-14 (Mid-week Bible Study)

Introduction
Colossians 1:13-14
Today, we’re going to embark on a journey through one of the most powerful and comforting themes in the Bible: redemption.
Redemption is the act of buying back or saving something from destruction or captivity.
In a spiritual sense, it refers to the deliverance of humanity from sin and its consequences through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
What is redemption?
The Present
We are sinful, we lost our rights and privileges. (Romans 3:9 NLT)
At the most basic level redemption fixes a problem, and the Bible confronts us with the uncomfortable problem all humans share: we are cursed because of our inability to live up to the requirements of God’s law ( Galatians 3:10 NLT)
What is God’s standard?
That is a problem because God’s standard is perfection all of the time and without exception , and we all know that we’re not perfect. (James 2:10) (Matthew 25:41 NLT)
The Purpose of Redemptions
- To deliver us from ungodliness: As a result of our fallen nature the default disposition of the human heart is to kick against God. This brings inevitable misery into the human experience. But liberation from our enslavement to ungodliness is available on account of Christ’s death (Titus 2:14)
- To deliver us from a frustrated existence: Redemption delivers from the eternal consequences of sin, but it also gives life an immediate purpose. (1Peter 1:18)
- To showcase God’s glorious grace: In the ultimate sense we may ask: why? Why did God at such cost provide redemption for sinners? The Bible gives the answer(Ephesians 1:13-14).
The Benefits of Redemption
Redemption, the act of being bought back or rescued from slavery, captivity, or sin, is a profound concept with far-reaching implications.
Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, believers are offered the ultimate redemption, freeing them from the bondage of sin and death. (1 Peter 1:18-19, Romans 8:21 )
Let us read Colossians 1:13-14 again
- Because you are redeemed, you are reconciled to God: The power of the blood of Jesus removed all that separated you from God (Ephesians 2:3, 5 )
- Because you are redeemed, you are perfected: You may not think of yourself as perfect, but when God looks at through the blood of Jesus, He sees you as perfect. God does not remember your sins. (Hebrews 10:14, Jeremiah 31:34).
- Because you are redeemed, you are delivered:This is been set free. Beloved, when you become a Christian one of the benefits of Redemption is freedom from power of darkness. (Col 1:13-14 TPT)
- Because you are redeemed. you are prosperous:You can now enjoy life. Christianity is not synonymous to poverty. It is not identical to lack and wants. When you become a Christian you are to triumph over needs, lack and wants. (Job 36: 11, Ps. 118: 25, II Cor. 8: 9)
Conclusion
The Goal : The whole plan for redemption was that we may conform to the Image of God’s dear Son; to look like Jesus. (Romans 8:29)
These are your redemption right, your divine package, claim them. Don’t let the bread of the children be given to the dogs.
